About Me

Hello and Welcome to Modern Day Homemaker

My name is Sara, wife to Bradley, and mama to Grace. I am a full-time homemaker and am loving every minute of it. OK, maybe not every minute. This blog profiles my journey as I try to keep my child happy, my husband fed, my home clean, and my sanity in check.

About Sara aka The Modern Day Homemaker

Before I met my husband I was a small town girl who had dreams of going to grad school and working a high profile job in the big city. Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would ever be a stay-at-home mom. Yet, here I am. So how did this happen, you may ask? To be honest I am not exactly sure. Maybe it was fate, maybe finances, but whatever drove me to stay at home, I am glad it did.

I met Brad, my husband, during my Junior year of college. A mutual friend told me he knew someone he wanted me to meet. After a good month of hesitation, I agreed. We hit it off that night and have been inseparable ever since.

After just a couple months of dating I left to study abroad, and on my return I proposed to Brad. You heard that right, ladies. I was the one to propose. It was not a romantic proposal in the least. We were eating pizza on a hotel bed watching the news, and I simply turned to him and asked, "So, do you want to get married."  To my surprise he said yes and we went ring shopping the next day. Of course this is not the romantic proposal a girl dreams about, but it worked for us. However, a couple months later Brad took me on a date downtown. Without me knowing he rented out the observation deck of a skyscraper. So while we were alone checking out the views, he dropped to one knee and presented me with the ring we picked out. While I was swept away in love, I was still just a junior in college and my plans had to change. It was no longer my future I had to plan, but ours.

So after graduating, finding jobs (boy, was that tough), and building our first home together we decided to get married on June 23, 2012.
A year later our lives would change again as we found out we were expecting our first child. Grace was born on March 23, 2014. She was 11 days late and still continues to do things on her own timeline. I thought I knew everything about babies after working in childcare for 8 years, but nothing could have prepared me for the challenges and joy that came with having my own child. She is my everything and the reason I continue to be a stay-at-home mom.
